EDITORS NOTE: I find myself getting busier and may not be able to post much… so here’s an abridged continuation.
The idea is that after the market place attack by Maul our heroes regroup at the Lars homestead. Humorously this bothers Cleig Lars but both Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon use a mind trick on him and Cleig is of course subsequently fine with the intrusion.
The reveal that Jinn is/was a Jedi blows Anakin’s mind and he and Jinn speak about the matter, but Jinn doesn’t tell him that he is his father. Jinn feels strange about telling Anakin that detail because Qui-Gon is clearly a drunk, and he doesn’t want to step on Cleig’s toes too much. On top of that, it’s been so many years of ‘hiding’ that the notion of Anakin knowing the truth terrifies Qui-Gon; what would Anakin say? Would he be mad? Would he reject Qui-Gon? Thoughts that Qui-Gon refuses to think about.
One thing is clear to everyone, Watto is the only one who has the parts they need. Anakin will have to race since he made the deal with Watto and Watto won’t accept an altered deal.
But what of the mysterious figure in the market? The Sith or whatever he was… Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan discuss the matter privately; a broken mentor to his former student. It’s almost like a confessional. Obi-Wan hears this one portion of Qui-Gon’s story (the time spent on Dathomir (not the part where he was married or had a child)). It was very clearly Maul to Qui-Gon. He could tell even without seeing his face. But why, how did he track him to Tatooine? Why now? Qui-Gon feels strongly that Maul is oblivious to who Anakin is (more wishful denial than anything) and yet Obi-Wan assumes there is more for Qui-Gon to tell but he’s holding back.
Understanding the dangers of the situation, Obi-Wan realized this Maul character may be after two things… so Qui-Gon left that night to get away from Anakin in hopes of drawing out the attacker somewhere else. The Queen was banned from stepping outside for her own safety and the ship was moved to a parking center just outside of town that night (something Qui-Gon was unaware of). The race was tomorrow and the ship could be repaired quickly after, and all parties would separate.
Maul meanwhile had already interrogated Watto. He knew the tracker was at the shop – he followed the signal there and saw the handmaiden that escaped with the Queen… but his blood lust for Qui-Gon was taking over… his anger was boiling over and burning everything inside him. Watto was not prepared for this customer… and Maul needed to know where the Queen was… and as a bonus it would come with Qui-Gon’s boy.
The race day had come.
Qui-Gon stays distant from the event, in hopes that Maul will strike him and not Anakin or Obi-Wan. But the bar that Qui-Gon waits at leaves him unprovoked. It finally becomes too heavy for Qui-Gon’s mind… Maul may be after Anakin because he does know that Anakin is his son… the thought was too much for him earlier… but now he can’t escape the thought, and it suddenly becomes apparent… this would be Maul’s perfect revenge… to kill Anakin.
All while Qui-Gon is at the bar… Anakin wins the race. It’s very exciting. Watto, who is now under the influence of Maul, collects information from Anakin about why he needs the part. He learns the ship type, but more importantly, where it is parked. Watto offers to help with the repair, which Anakin finds a little odd, but accepts. Watto after all loves out worlder ships…
Qui-Gon frantically raced to Anakin’s home to intercept Maul, but when he arrived, there was no ship. Cleig informed him that the ship was taken back into town late last night. Qui-Gon had passed them in his panic.
With the part acquired, and installed, Anakin is almost ready to say goodbye to his new friends. Watto, working for Maul prepares for his moment. That’s when part of the parking structure collapsed. Obi-Wan rushes to the ready. Watto rushes to inject the queen with a sedative. Anakin looks for Padme’. Maul stands ready to distract Obi-Wan and hopefully crush Anakin.
Watto gets the Queen aboard Maul’s ship. He is still entranced by Maul, but it’s wearing off. Obi-Wan and Maul duel in the parking port. Qui-Gon sees the smoke in the distance where the parking center is on fire.
LET’S SPEED THIS UP…
Qui-Gon is obviously too late to the party… Maul makes off with the Queen and believes he has killed Anakin. Obi-Wan and the rest of the party realize they must go after the Queen…
The adventure leads back to Alderaan where Anakin flies a ship, the Jedi and the Sith fight. Qui-Gon is stabbed in front of Anakin and dies in Obi-Wan’s arms (telling Obi-Wan the truth of Anakin before he goes). Maul is cut in half and the Queen is rescued by Padme’. Our pilot friend Whikk and his droid play their parts as well in liberating Alderaan from the Geonosians. The King is revealed to still be alive… happy ending right?
