Time for a slow roast…
I was really disappointed when I walked out of the theater on December 15th, 2017. Rian Johnson is a great writer and director… so what happened there?
I watched it again a few days later, and I liked it more, but I still didn’t love it. I had to think for a while and I think for me this is what bugs me about TLJ.
- Humor. The humor isn’t timeless.
- Pacing. The Canto Bight scene is cool but it ruins the pacing of the film.
- Empire copy. Walkers, white powdery planet, space chase, fancy elegant location where things aren’t as they seem. Sure it rhymes… and there are parts that I love about it, but it’s too similar.
- Back to back with the former. All Star Wars films have time gaps between them, this one doesn’t. The scope feels too small.
I could go on more…and I might, but this is just a filler post for now. I got opinions.
